In the past couple of weeks I've come across two brand new online news sites for Wales which I think deserve wider attention.
The Daily Wales is now a month old, and publishes several articles each day.
Wales Weekly appears to have been going since the beginning of February, and publishes a few dozen articles each Thursday.
Wales is a nation with remarkably few home grown media outlets, so these two online sites are very welcome, and I wish them all the best.
Much of what will appear on this blog will also appear in the Syniadau Forums, but the emphasis on this blog is slightly different. The forums are focused more on the structures and institutions that Wales will need to develop in order to become a successful independent nation, arranged on a subject by subject basis, but the blog will have more of an emphasis on day to day political news and developments.
People are welcome to reply or leave comments either here or on the Syniadau Forums. If anyone wants to initiate a new subject they are very welcome to do so there.

Ha, these two online sites competently demonstrate why nobody bothers with home grown media outlets.
'Educated anywhere but Wales'.
It goes without saying that we're too stupid, too badly educated and, to be frank, just too Welsh to report news for ourselves. That's why we need others do it for us.
I think Kinnock said it best when he said...
"between the mid-sixteenth century and the mid-eighteenth century Wales had practically no journalism at all, and even before that it was the history of rural bloggers who have been ennobled by being called journos"
The media landscape really does reflect how we haven't formed (or been allowed to form) a proper nation yet. To be honest having an actual national discussion (even within a British context) is a long way off. But we all have to play our part in getting there. In all honesty Wales does seem more conscious than when I was growing up. It was almost normal for us to actually be called part of England. That has gradually changed but we need to keep going.
I suspect the Assembly and dreaded Welsh government will be gone within the next five years or so. And if we had a vote tomorrow I reckon it'd be gone by Friday, given that the rights of the ordinary people in Wales are to be upheld!

well said cibwr. with even the apparent man of the moment - mr farage - now openly accepting the reality of devolution those few remaining lost souls who pine for the days when wales was ruled by a governor general from wokingham are now utterly disenfranchised.
perhaps they should crawl out of the sewers they've been hiding in and form their own 'for wales - see england' party, to quote the infamous encyclopedia entry in the days of the british empire.
