Today, the time for private mourning for Margaret Thatcher has come to an end. The state has acceded to her wishes and is giving her a sumptuous public funeral at great expense. So now is the time to speak.
As my oration to mark her death, I can think of nothing more fitting than these two lines from Shakespeare:
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them.
